This Evoque may be based on underpinnings borrowed from the old Freelander model, but it feels very different from that car to drive. There's a sportier, more dynamic feel that's helped in this improved post-2015-era design by the lighter weight of the fresh engineware installed beneath the bonnet of diesel variants.Land Rover and Range Rover are not reliable. It might be painful to admit it, but the evidence is clear to see. That said, its main competitor Jeep isn’t too good either. It’s mainly down to the amount of modern technology that is now in the cars because not long ago Land Rover cars were very reliable. In cars like the Evoque, performance plays second fiddle to looking good but it must be said, the Range Rover is pretty slow for the price. You get three engines to choose from, but the 178hp 2.0-litre diesel engine is the best option.
Stands to reason, then, that the new Evoque has interior quality befitting a mid-sized, mid-range premium SUV. And while the old model still had bits that were a hangover from its dark years of Ford ownership, the new Evoque is all Land Rover, and that’s a good thing.
